Weatherboards and Cladding Species

There are a number of timber species that are well suited for use as exterior cladding. ITI Timspec can supply timber weatherboards to suit your need, whether you want a raw natural look or a painted finish, vertical or horizontal.

Accoya

Accoya® is world leading high technology wood. It is produced from a non-toxic cellular modification process known as acetylation. The softwood used in this process is Radiata Pine sourced from sustainably managed forests in New Zealand.

Accoya Color Grey

Accoya Color Grey is standard Accoya that has been impregnated with an organic grey pigment. Once installed, this chemical-free cladding, complete with a 50 year above ground warranty, will need very limited maintenance aside from seasonal cleaning. The grey colour will fade a little over time as the timber also silvers off but expensive and time-consuming maintenance programmes in the longterm are not required.

Radiata Pine

Traditionally used cladding species and is good for paint quality. Fast grown medium density soft wood commonly used for cladding, venner, plywood and construction lumber.

Thermofixx230

Thermofixx230 is our thermally modified timber using locally grown radiata pine. Heated to 230 degrees Celsius, cell wall structures are modified - all resins, sugars and starches are extracted out and residual moisture evaporates. The timber becomes more resistant to rot and decay and with increased durability and stability. Thermofixx230 must be coated with stain/oil or paint and is only available with a Bandsawn Face.

Western Red Cedar

WR Cedar is light, soft, scented and highly decorative timber with contrasting early wood and late wood bands. It is naturally durable and known for its superior stability for doors, windows, louvres, exterior cladding, weatherboards and shingles.

Western Red Cedar Select Tight Knot (STK)

Sourced from Canada, STK is 100% tight Knot Western Red Cedar. Sound tight knots and natural features define the visual character of this option and are classified as within grade for cladding. A cost-effective option favoured by those who like its rustic charm and character.

Yellow Cedar

Yellow Cedar is a bright timber, ranging in colour from soft yellow to light brown. Sapwood occurs as a very narrow band and is almost white to yellowish white. Heartwood is a bright clear yellow, darkening upon exposure. The grain is typically very straight with a fine and even texture.
